| Over 400 people
attended the Rock 'n' Raise for Darfur
benefit concert that took place February 14th, 2010 at the Metro in
Chicago. Big Science, Madina Lake, Brendan Kelly, and the Blisters
all performed, as did the DePaul Prelude Choir. The concert was a
lot of fun, and raised over $3,200, all of which went to the Rock
'n' Raise for Darfur fundraising campaign. Proceeds from the campaign
go to the Djabal refugee camp in eastern Chad, to build and facilitate
schools. |
| Thanks to
all who attended Youth United for Darfur's Voices
of Darfur Workshop on December 13th, 2009. We had a great turnout,
heard wonderful presentations by Lost Girl Neima Tarifa, State Senator
Jacqueline Collins, and State Representative David Miller, and learned
about the history of Sudan and how to effectively take action. We
sent over 30 letters to local Congressman and also raised $300 in
donations to go toward the education of Darfuri student refugees in
Chad. |

Thank
you to everyone who participated in the
Youth
United for Darfur Rally on Sunday, April 19th
Even
though it was rainy and cold, over 500 people attended to show President
Obama that students in his home state demand swift and sustained
action to promote peace in Darfur. Youth United for Darfur was proud
to announce at the event that it has raised over $15,000 to support
the Enough Project's Darfur Dream Team Sister School Program and
the Sudanese Community Center in Chicago. To see the list of speakers
and musicians at the rally, click here.

Thanks
to all who attended the
Youth
United for Darfur Conference
on April 27, 2008
Over 150 high school activists gathered in Chicago to learn
about Darfur and effective activism techniques, and to take
action against the genocide. We sent over 100 letters to elected
officials and collected many petition signatures
for upcoming legislation. The unity and strength at the event
showed the dedication of high school students to ending genocide.
